Here's a list of basic kit and training items used in Force Necessary workshops.
This constitutes the equipment needed to safely take part in beginner training.
All of these items can be sourced cheaply – ask Jeth for advice if you have problems.
Basic
1) Focus mitts – curved hook mitts are best
Great, multi use piece of kit – can be used for solo practice, conditioning, fitness, stretching ...the list goes on. Source : Amazon. RDX is a good cheap brand, make sure the thickness is adequate to take strikes if getting from elsewhere.
2) Mouthguard
Cheap dental insurance!
Most sports shops.
3) Groin guard (male and female trainees). Self explanatory piece of kit just like the mouth guard!
4) MMA type gloves - preferably with individual fingers, an open palm, and some sort of thumb protection. I’ve used these RDX ( GGL T1B) ones for years and they’re the best ones in a budget range that I’ve found so far - real leather rather than the fake stuff. Available on Amazon.
5) 3 metre boxing hand wraps. Good for protecting the hands but also the wrists and fit underneath your gloves for extra cushioning and form. Amazon or sports shops.
6) Eye protection – large DIY type that surround the eye with elastic headband. DO NOT get the spectacle type! We’ve also tried squash type goggles but they still have a gap between the cheek and the lens that fingers and weapons can enter. The DIY type is the best.
Amazon, Homebase etc…
7) Training knife – cold steel plastic ones are best and safest for knife defence scenario training.

8) training stick – rattan only!
28 inch escrima stick
Must be Rattan - No wooden or home made sticks allowed!
Example but check Ebay too:

9) Kick shield for …kicking (and other stuff).
Something like this, curved rather than flat if possible:
10) MMA/Muay Thai shin guards - these will open up more training options for defending kicks and allow for your sparring to progress:
Head Guard
These RDX ones are the best we’ve found in this price range. The grill’s are removable and they protect the back of your head from the floor etc.
Most guys need to order the XL size.

Good extra stuff to have:
12) – Elbow and knee pads ( soft sponge only – no hard skateboard types etc). We train on wooden floors, if you are prone to bruising, these can really help out.
Amazon
Sports shops
13) – Rubber training pistol (do not remove trigger guard!)
Amazon - good source for cheap, generic ones.

Cold steel are great but bloody expensive for what they are!
14) – Trainer folding knife
Private training kit is discussed upon invitation to attend.
