In response to questions in a training workshop recently, I wanted to briefly put forward some ideas as a kind of companion of sorts to the student manual “The disarmed knife”.
In the UK, weapon carry is illegal.
There are no grey areas in this, it's just not an option open to us to carry items designed, modified or intended to be self defence weapons. So not just guns (for readers abroad to understand) but batons, knives, pepper sprays etc are not allowed - even a sharpened stick would be illegal if it could be proved you carried it with intent to use as an offensive weapon.
This is accepted and adhered to by everyone except, of course, criminals.
But is this always the case?
