315 - Aide-mémoire: Oct '22 week two
Content and notes from all One In One and Force Necessary workshops
And… another week of workshops draws to an end!
Feedback
Thank you to the host of Sunday’s women’s self defence workshop who passed on this email feedback from one of the participants:
“It was life-changing. I don’t say things like that lightly. It made me feel better equipped to deal with situations and less nervous of being out with my little one alone. Jeth was a wonderful teacher.
Thanks again for making it so I could attend”
This workshop personally represents several years of work and ideas and it really is meaningful to receive something like this and know that someone finds my work useful. Thank you.
The next workshop is on the 23rd of this month and I believe there are plans for further dates.
Workshop details/ contact / booking info can be found here:
Stretching
One of the guys asked about stretching and back pain last night, here’s a good resource video from a great channel I thought I would share here for everyone in the free section:

A simple breakdown of UK self defence law for the average person. This can also be found in the legal section of my book, “Blunt weapon tactics”.
Safer ways of falling
Safer ways of standing
Level two of the FN course features palm striking. Tonight we looked deeper into this subject, not just the generic combatives palm strike but also different ways and situations in which the tactic can be used.
A simple set is used of multiple palms used to both concuss the head and also create space between you and the attacker to enable you to escape.
We trained this set in several different positions relative to the attacker to create familiarity.
We then moved to the dynamic Block, Pass and Pin drill and applied the palm set as an inserted counter.

Scenario work:
The attacker uses a controlling double wrist grab (your hands are low). The defender uses some kind of diminishing blow, in this case foot stomps and/or shin kicks.
The right hand reaches across and under to the attacker’s right thumb joint and grabs to perform an outside wrist twist.
Once this basic foundation was complete we moved on to adding immediate punches with the freed hand, hammerfists and more kicks to try and enable a takedown against a less compliant attacker.
Joint cranks are always secondary to striking as a tactic and are often opportunist in nature.
Students finished with asking questions about self defence “rights” and various situations.
12_10_22 / One In One - Advanced private training
One In One - Personal research: Experimental, developmental and conditioning for survival fighting.
Physical preparation - high percentage skills increasing in pressure.
Solo visualisation and key defensive skill practice - as discussed this set covers not just one on one fights but also the possibility of weapons and multiple attackers.
Early striking phase / mental toughness drill - multiple sets throughout the session.

Here listed are the various set ups that were used for continuous attack and defence practice as well as performance notes for retention and development:
