318 - Aide-mémoire: Oct '22 week three
Content and notes from last night's Force Necessary workshop
For the brave souls that thrive in chaos and ventured last night into the collapsing economic landscape to keep ass kicking alive - we salute you!
Here’s the content from last night’s FN beginner’s training with variations and ideas at the end for supporters.

Ground work:
Safer ways of falling
Fighting from the floor: How to counter a stand-over threat
Safer ways of standing
Partner work: continuous falling, floor defence and standing.
Striking:
Block, pass and pin (BPP) : This drill is a central one in the FN course. How to perform it and group practice.
The level two unarmed strike is the palm. For the past few weeks we have been working on combinations of palm strikes. We now introduce these basic sets as inserts to the BPP drill.
Sucker punches:
Level two contains a look at classic set ups for sucker punches - scumbags don’t fight fair, and neither should you! Learn to understand these dirty fighting ambushes and avoid being caught. They also have a key place in pre-emptive defence.
In this example, the set up is to stand with your arms crossed in front of your body. The right across the body (hand under arm pit) with the left resting on top (hand ON elbow) - not interlaced as people commonly do!
From here the striker uses the back of the left hand to hook hit from 3 o’clock to the face.
The right hand then follows up with tonight’s strike, a straight palm to the face.
This set was used against a posturing partner.
Supporters: see below for variations on this drill, including safety, power generation and adaptions for if things go wrong.
Combat kicks:
Padwork practice of the front snap kick.
Developing reaction speed.
Kicking while restrained. Kicking an encroaching threat while held back by another.
Scenario:
Performing a rear takedown.
The set up was to block a haymaker right punch and counter with a palm strike to the face to achieve an arm wrap and step through to take structure and reap the support leg to drop the attacker.
A look at increasing levels of force as finishes and follow ups from here.
Next up this week:
One In One private training and the second women’s course this Sunday:
Supporter section:
Sucker punching: variations, safety, power generation and adaptions for if things go wrong and more.
Before we move onto potential issues with this tactic and power, here is a list of variations and instructions to try out in solo/ partner home training that I’ve expanded the basic drill with.
