Content and notes from last night's Force Necessary workshop
Tuesday 15_10_22_ Force Necessary
Partner work:
Safer ways to fall
Safer ways to stand
Block, pass, pin (BPP) and strike! A complete run through of this classic 6 count exercise.
Scenario:
Blocking a haymaker punch and performing a rear takedown.
Each step of the tactic is looked at. The block, diminishment, wrapping the arm, closing space, taking the structure of the attacker and reaping the leg.
Supporter’s will find full performance notes on this below.
Pad work:
Level one in the FN/unarmed course utilises targeting the eyes of an attacker. Will this stop a fight? Maybe, maybe not, but it’s a good place to start for new people and doesn’t rely on a lot of training or physical ability - if you’re lucky enough to have hands, you can add this idea to your defensive arsenal whatever your situation.
Trainees used a static held pad to practice impacting this strike. We looked at ways to up the chances of success and also safety for the defender by splaying and bending the fingers.
From here we moved on to dynamic movement. The defender must control the space between them and the attacker.
Briefly available eye targeting opportunities are then introduced to be exploited by the defender.
Ground work:
The fight has ended up on the ground. Various pad positions are used to practice striking from challenging positions.
BPP:
We now return to the dynamic 6 count drill to use the eye strikes and rear takedown tactics as inserts.
