I talked at last week’s workshop with regular trainee Jon, who’s an experienced army vet. We were looking at various situations that involved initial wrist grabs and he showed me this variation on one of the basic ideas that we covered, thanks Jon.
The basic set up:
Both of your wrists are grabbed in a low position by an aggressor.
You are facing each other, their left hand grabs your right wrist and right grabs your left.
Their grip is very strong and you cannot rip free.
You raise your right knee and place it against the inside of their left wrist.
Push the knee out to the side while pulling your right hand in towards you and back.
This effects a push/pull release of the wrist.
Problems and solutions:
One very simple problem that some trainees can experience is that the aggressor is not just stronger but taller and they cannot lift the knee high enough to even start this technique.
