Never react to insults.
Never get drawn in.
Nothing they say means anything.
I know, I’ve often said it and I really mean it.
But I’m only human and everyone has limits…
Walking with M through town and there are a couple of Krishna guys ahead trying to strike up conversations with passers by, books in hand.
I don’t have any problem with this - do your own thing!
I just need to get somewhere and don’t share their enthusiasm for reading the aforementioned books at this juncture.
Forming a perfect bottle neck configuration, the guy on the left locks eyes on me and moves in.
“Hi there!”
“Hey buddy.”
Look ahead, keep walking.
“Do you have a minute?”
“Sorry mate, need to get somewhere!”
Keep walking, nearly there! But… no.
“I like your beard!”
“Thanks - I grew it myself”.
Keep walking!
He’s now trying to follow.
“They say that long hair is a sign of strength!”
“Well, they’d be wrong! Anyway, have a great day.”
Keep smiling.
Keep walking.
Nearly there!
And then it happened.
In his last ditch effort to keep the chat going…
He crossed a line.
And it took everything to walk away from it.
Calling out behind me…
“Are you a yoga teacher?!”
[Spits out tea] Ha ha ha ha ha
I think I’ve said it before….. I’d pay good money to go to that class.
Well done, though, that took some reserves of self-control. I shall remember that next time I want to flick a v at a driver who passes too close.
