Tuesday_11_7_23 (Open training)
Here’s the content of last week’s workshop themed on stand up survival fighting for beginners.
We have two more weekly workshops before we close for “Low season” at the end of this month.
I will be working on a couple of projects and private training will continue.
This Journal will continue to be updated as per usual.
Workshops will then restart later in the year.

Grappling and developmental drills
A classic bullying / prelude to assault situation - a single arm grab
How this actually happens and why
This situation and subsequent solutions are shown in their basic form
Different things that aggressors will do
Building the model
What to do before this happens - one simple tactic that hugely increases your ability to deal with this and it is not in the textbook image below detailing the standard “Step one” concept…
Next - Another missing tactic (and accompanying drill) that comes immediately after this image.
How to attack the elbow joint within this situation.
How this is commonly taught and how this differs from the likely outcome in the context relevant to the workshop trainees who were present.
Realistically understanding why using this tactic is very unlikely to end a fight at this point.
Serious considerations for the average person to consider before selecting this as their course of action in a crisis situation.
Reframing the goal to be more applicable to the trainees present.
Kicking
High volume work on two high percentage kicks from the rear leg.
Developing power
A simple tactic that enables you to better link your kicks into combinations.
Receiving kicks
Striking and being struck
A simple skill set to develop combination striking
One method of protecting the head
How this method works and how it does not
How it is not a panacea for dealing with strikes
How to be a dumbass trainer and give your students brain damage - don’t laugh, they’re out there, I’ve trained with them. Just can’t… seem to ….remember their …names…`
“But Jeth, this means your training isn’t street and hardcore!!!” Well maybe my intellectually limited friend, but at least my trainees and I hopefully won’t resemble a certain US president anytime soon.
Increasing pressure and testing this idea more safely for the cognitive stage.
