The picture below is an A&E photo published in the news of a guy who was stabbed by two street tax collectors when he aggressively blocked their right to transfer ownership of his bike to them.

The knife has not entered the brain, but instead has bent on impact with the skull and bent to travel beneath the skin and down the face, which saved his life.

Types of stabs and possible counters:

From the injury description and the direction of the blade bending, it can be deduced that this was probably a right-hand/reverse grip descending stab to the face, which hit possibly as the cyclist turned away from the incoming stab.
