Tuesday 12_12_23 (Open training)
This was the last open training of the year before shutting down and reopening on Tuesday, January 9th.
I still have several private workshops coming up as well as more courses in January, so still lots going on and this Journal will continue as normal with several more posts lined up soon: The Stop and Search series continues as does the “encountering conflict and aggression” series, and more…
Many thanks to the guys who came last night for their effort and support of what I do.
I’d said that I’d leave the content up to those who attended and any of you guys who wrote in and asked for specific things to be covered. The end list was distilled to:
Arm bars - a complete scenario-based progression for a range of appropriate everyday situations and extra nasty stuff thrown in because christmas is coming.
Subtle low-force controls for appropriate use of force.
Less than subtle approaches.
Locks and cranks and a whole lot of punching
Knife draws and countering - a UK-centric approach to this.
Using flow drills to get good at fighting rather than … good at flow drills.
How to incorporate a student’s prior learning into these ideas ( Boxing, Krav Maga, Kung Fu, MMA, and JuiJitsu were referenced) to create an individual and complete understanding of survival fighting.

The first thing a - by now, very pissed off with you - person will do is try to stand up. And guess what? They will most likely easily do this and if you cling to the “lock”, you may very well end up bent over backward with them trapping you in the beginning of
