I wanted to write some general thoughts on these accounts because, as I stated before, I wanted the attention to first be on the experiences being shared.
I also do not wish to and cannot in such a short form hope to offer any panacea for the situation of being harassed in the street either as a negative experience or as a prelude to a very real physical threat of various kinds.
I offer this next part merely for your consideration in the hope of generating thought on possible responses you might consider beforehand for your own individual situation.
For those completely new to use of force training, I try very hard to avoid any jargon phrases in relation to training or tactics but there may be a couple of terms that may not be completely clear to you, “Control position” for example.
I don’t spend paragraphs explaining every possible idea, solution, or technique as that’s not the focus here.
Please mention these to me when attending a workshop and I’ll be happy to explain them or, for those of you who are reading this further afield or abroad, discuss them with your local coach, who will be able to clarify this for you as most systems will have similar ideas even if they expressed differently.
I'll start by commenting on each incident individually and then move on to the similar aspects of both.
