“Muay Thai is suicide … This is now a knife situation.” - James LaFond
I got the following question a while back from “J” and wanted to write a long form article on it as it’s a central idea to my current training.
One simple habit that may greatly increase your survival chances.
From here a whole set of ideas and tactics was developed - here is the first step from which other ideas are created for you to start looking at and possibly incorporating into your current training.
Look at this video of a knife threat situation and then use it to consider the ideas that follow in this article. My understanding of the video is that the knife-man is asked to leave lodgings - I am uninterested in the situation, only in the unarmed vs knife dynamics.
Thanks for this question J. It’s taken a while for me to get this article out but I finally circled round to it so, thanks for your patience.
This will be a long article for you and other paid subscribers as it represents a lot of my personal work over the last few years.
This manual of ideas is also meant to dovetail in with the knife sets from my book Self Defence: Volume one (Click for Amazon UK )( Click here for Amazon US)
