Here are all the content notes from the last workshop on striking.

Confidence

Realistic personal focus and constant practice over time, are two very unpopular concepts in this age of instant gratification, downloads, and fast-track expert qualifications.

But the results are solid, dependable, flexible, and will serve well in a real crisis. This is truly a wellspring from whence confidence finds its source.

“Confidence is built by doing the work and practicing whatever your chosen tactics are again and again.

There are no shortcuts.

You simply put the hours in.”

Developing power for striking

This workshop was an opportunity to really deep dive into the mechanics of striking and learning/developing and practicing the correct way to develop power for striking through the whole body.

There are several schools of thought about how to do this but all of them involve very similar ideas, so we look at the most common first, to allow a solid understanding of other options later to provide students with a wider range of choices to work with depending on the situation.

But first!

A reminder of how to wrap hands that I posted a while back:

Solo practice and visualisation

I went through all of the key tactics we had developed over the last six weeks to make sure that all trainees were completely clear on the logic of this method, and why it differs from the conventional approach to learning striking.

Trainees then practiced the tactics covered in the last cycle and we looked at various individual aspects of mechanics and performance.
