Both Oakland and SF have spent millions of tax $'s on the drug use and homeless problems, and all it has resulted in is astronomically more homeless and more drug addiction problems, more crime, more violence, more theft/property crime. Along with lining the pockets of city employee bureaucracies.
I've worked security in the tender -loin district and mission st. Area. It's actually gotten significantly worse than that video depicts. You can't even drive down any of those streets now, they are completely congested with homeless encampments, open air hard drug use, and violent mentally ill folks. All businesses have closed, some it them considered to be landmark tourist attraction type venues that have been there for decades
