To paraphrase Sartre, the fundamental question of humanity, of all philosophy, is "why not kill yourself now?"

That, I think, is a spiritual question.

If one has a non-materialistic reason to get out of bed in the morning - a purpose beyond pursuing comfort and pleasure - you can handle anything life throws at you. If you don't... well... short expiry date.

Nothing in this world is permanent, perfect, or incorruptible (including human reason, obviously).

Once I accepted that, a bunch of stuff like ^^^ this fell into place. Still a work in progress tho!

Hi Rodrigo - good to hear from you mate, hope you're doing well.

I mused that if we were communicating on Bullshido, there would be people arguing about Sartre not having a searchable MMA record...ha!

"why not kill yourself now?" - it's an interesting one because a better counterpoint I feel to that would be "what's stopping me from LIVING right now and what am I going to DO about it?"

Yes, very much agree. That acceptance that you mention also is what gives such great meaning to some of the things that should never be taken for granted: those we love, health, and so on.

Thanks, J
